Two Mums, One Dream — One Step Closer to Our Forever Ending

We’d love to introduce you to our love story.
I’m Emma, and my incredible wife is Amy — a woman full of strength, compassion, and pure heart. We’ve been together for 15 beautiful years, and in that time we’ve shared more than love — we’ve shared resilience, growth, and a commitment to lifting up our family, friends, and community.
In 2018, we moved back to Wolverhampton with one dream: to grow our family. But life had other plans. Amy’s health declined, and then, in 2019, everything changed when we unexpectedly became parents through kinship care to three — now what we are proud to say — loving and joyful children. Since then, our lives have revolved around giving our children the safest, most loving life we can — and we wouldn’t change a thing.
Still, we’ve always held on to the dream of carrying a child together — to experience pregnancy, birth, and growing a life from our love. We’ve tried twice with sperm donors, and both attempts ended in heartbreak. In 2025, we finally saved enough to fund a round of IUI — but unfortunately, with a rollercoaster of emotions and a journey through heartbreak once again, sadly, it didn’t work.
We’re paying for our second IUI attempt entirely ourselves — pouring everything we have into one more chance.
But if this second try fails… it will shatter us.
IVF will be our only remaining option — our final hope of carrying a child together — and yet, it comes with a cost far beyond our reach: £4,100 per round, not including medication or clinic fees.
We have already poured into our financial cup to stabilise this dream come true, but in all honesty, it has impacted us. We are very hopeful and grateful for everything yet to come, but we need the stability and reassurance.
To walk away from this dream, not because our hearts gave up, but because of the financial limitations this journey comes with — unwavering sacrifices — that will force us to just let go… How do you grieve someone you never met, nor know if the day will ever come? This is the harsh truth we don’t want to ever accept, as it would devastate our world. We have three amazing children, and with the costs of treatment, we do not want to burden their future with our hopes and dreams. It would mean grieving a future we’ve dreamed of for so long — the moment of hearing a heartbeat, of feeling a tiny kick, of seeing our child in each other’s eyes.
We’re not ready to let go.
Not yet.
Now, we’re about to fund a second IUI cycle completely by ourselves, and we remain hopeful. But IUI success rates are roughly 50/50, and if this round doesn’t work, we’ll need to move on to IVF — which offers a much higher chance of success but comes with a much higher cost.
IVF at the clinic we’ve chosen, which has excellent reviews and a strong success rate, will cost £4,100 per round, not including medications and additional fees. With the costs of everything combined (including our current treatments), we’re looking at over £10,000. As much as we wish we could do it all ourselves, it’s more than we can manage alone.
We aren’t asking for help with our current IUI cycle — this one, we are paying for ourselves. We’re asking for help only if it doesn’t work — to give us a chance at IVF and one last step toward completing our family.
Even 50p, £1, or a simple share means the world to us. Your support would not only bring us closer to our dream — it would be a piece of a story built on love, care, and never giving up.
And if our second IUI round is successful, we promise that every penny raised will be donated to a fertility or family-building charity, to help another couple chasing the same dream. This isn’t just about us — it’s about love, community, and giving back.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for believing in love that doesn’t give up.
With all our hearts,
Emma & Amy
