Two Little Miracles!
Hi Everyone!
I pray that this GoFundMe finds you all in great health during these challenging times! I’m reaching out and requesting help for our dear friends, who are more like family, Robert and Julie and their two sweet miracle babies, Brooks and Sophia.
Robert and Julie met many years ago and Julie became a mother to Roberts daughter, Kaitlyn, and has been a wonderful mother to her. Robert and Julie tried to have a child of their own for many years, they desperately wanted one and Kaitlyn wanted a sibling but it just never happened and they accepted it. Fast forward to last year, Robert and Julie moved to Florida for a year and circumstances changed and took them back to Texas. Shortly after their move back, we received a phone call from them, telling us they were PREGNANT! To try to explain the excitement, well, it just wouldn’t do it justice. Roughly a month later, I patiently waited by the phone to hear from Julie after her first doctor appointment. Julie called me and said “Well, first thing is, my calculations were off and I’m actually 16 weeks along”.......I was sooo incredibly relieved, she was out of the first trimester and I couldn’t contain my excitement.....then I hear her say “Hey, are you sitting down? There’s more!”.....my heart stopped for a moment and I was consumed with worry and then Julie said “There’s a crowd in there....TWO BABIES”
A few weeks later, Robert and Julie allowed us to have a virtual gender reveal for them, on the beach! It was the longest few hours, holding that secret and knowing that they were expecting a BOY and GIRL! We all cried and celebrated together! It was beautiful!
A few weeks later, I received a frantic text message from Robert with pictures of Julie, being life flighted to the Women’s Hopsital in Houston Texas, because baby boy Brooks sac was leaking. The doctors did everything they could to keep Brooks and Sophia safely in the “oven” with a main goal of 33 weeks but first big goal was 28 weeks. Julie was in the hospital without Robert, three hours away, for the majority of the time and then finally Robert was allowed to come because contractions had started in the 27th week and the doctors were not sure how long they could postpone labor. At 27 weeks and 1 day, Brooks said “I’m ready to meet my mommy and daddy now and you can’t stop me”
Brooks and Sophia made their grand entrance into the world on July 18th, both weighing just a little over 2lbs. These little miracles are fighters and doing amazing, both breathing on their own and amazing the doctors and their parents, daily!
Currently they are staying in a hotel in Houston to be near the babies, five days a week, and for obvious reasons, neither of them are working at this time. Brooks and Sophia will be in the NICU until October, or until they are strong enough to go home. The expenses of being away from home are mounting, in addition to purchasing and preparing everything at home, so Brooks and Sophia have everything they need.
I know this is a difficult time for everyone right now but if you are able to donate to these amazing parents, to help ease their minds and give them one less thing to worry about, we would be forever grateful!
God Bless You All and Please continue to pray for this amazing family!
