Two Causes, One Donation!
Cause 1: Let me introduce you to Joe. Joe is a disabled Navy Veteran who has spent his life in service to others. After serving his country, he served his community through personal commitments and charitable organizations. He has always gone out of his way to befriend people that seemed shy or awkward and help them feel like part of the community.
However, in the past few years many of Joe’s closest friends have moved many states away. The charity he spent the most time with (I.O.O.F.) closed it’s local chapter house. While he tries to keep busy, he has found himself increasingly lonely and battling Clinical Depression.
Cause 2: The reason I’m the one posting this is because my family is the second cause. I’m a disabled mother of two children who recently received some upsetting diagnoses that mean I am looking at many doctor appointments, surgery, and possibly long hospital stays. My husband works two jobs to make ends meet and while we have some support, we don’t have enough people we trust that live locally to cover childcare while I’m dealing with these medical issues.
Joe has been my friend, and considered part of the family, for over 30 years. He became close friends with my husband 20 years ago and is the Godfather of our children. I would trust him to offer care and support to our children...and to my husband if the need arises.
One Donation: The solution to both of our problems is for Joe to move to our city. He has other friends in the area besides my family, there are numerous organizations he could join, and there are more ways for him to further explore his interests. He’s found a place he’d like to live that is nearby. The only problem left is how to get him here when funds are already stretched thin with normal living expenses. That’s where you kindhearted, generous souls come in!
Our Goals:
$1,000 – Covers the moving truck rental (with insurance).
$2,000 – Covers the cost of gas (900 mile trip), equipment rental, and the initial moving in costs.
$3,000 – Covers getting professional help loading/unloading the moving truck. As we’re both disabled, this would be a huge benefit!
We’re all saving our pennies, so even the smallest donation is appreciated! If you can’t donate, please share a link to this page in the hopes someone else might see it and be moved to help us.
