Twins Need Help After Losing Mom
Just days ago, we lost our precious Cheryl Martin (Handy), a loving mother of twin 17-year-old boys, Alston and Peyton Handy and mother to an older 29-year-old son, Chris Martin. Cheryl’s sister (Cindy King) and close friend (Amanda Godwin) have created this GoFundMe page to raise money for an education and well-being fund for Alston and Peyton that will provide funding for food, shelter, clothing, tuition and college related expenses, as well as medical and dental support for the twins.
Cheryl, a resident of Efland, NC, was a woman of modest means who had previously worked in aftercare at a local elementary school as well as in office support prior to staying at home during the pandemic. She loved her boys with all her heart and was cherished by many friends in the community. She had a warm heart, a sparkle in her eyes, and a way of making you feel right at home whether you knew her for years or for only a few minutes. After several years of battling liver failure, she passed away at Hospice on July 21st with all three boys by her side.
Alston and Peyton are currently living with their older brother, Chris in a trailer on their grandparent's property in Efland. They need support to complete their senior year in high school and to subsequently attend community college. The funds will be closely managed and protected by her sister Cindy, a financial analyst, and by Amanda, an office manager for an accounting firm. All donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly towards providing care and education for the twins.
With deep appreciation and gratitude,
Cindy King and Amanda Godwin
