A youth led response to the murder of George Floyd
Donation protected
Racial Injustice did not start in MN with the murder of George Floyd, but the reality is that we are in unprecedented times and young people are grappling with many new realities all at once- between COVID-19, screen learning at home and the inhumaine image of George Floyd on the ground lifeless, four police officers responsible, while the unrest continues across the Twin Cities. Our youth and young adults are asking the right questions, taking steps to support one another and yet there is still so much more needed.
As a place to start our young people are asking to lead a knowledge and healing space with and for each other across the Twin Cities, as well as, connecting with other youth across the nation who have experienced police brutality- in solidarity.
We are working to support multiple brave and sacred spaces and platforms for youth between 12-24, a space of their own making. We are in connection with youth programs, youth serving coalitions, parents, youth, faith-based leaders who all see the vision and want to support but we need your help - today-right now. Please demonstrate your generosity of spirit by seeding this effort and let our young people know we see them, we hear them, we love them and we trust them to lead.
Youth want to organize and lead ongoing knowledge & healing conversations about the murder of George Floyd & the compounding conditions of race, white supremacy and injustice in the Twin Cities. Your contribution will make this a possibility not just for today, but as the media cameras leave and the national attention abates.
What will funds go for?
· To provide stipends for youth leaders
· To support technology for online connection
· To provide care kits for youth participants
We are working to raise these funds RIGHT NOW as we need online alternatives for young people to engage in today!
