Hi everyone, my name is Yasmine and I was hoping you would take a few minutes out of your day to read this story about a very special woman.

 

Our mother Rebecca - aged 42, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer which has metastasised to her ovaries. She is very much loved by her four children, myself, Joshua (23), Louis (15) and Ava (11), and her doting grandchildren Isla (9), Milana (5) and Emile (1).

 

Prior to her diagnosis my mum has been virtually bed bound since late 2021 early 2022 with what the doctors thought was a flare up of her pre existing health condition ‘Chronic Fatigue Syndrome’. However we now know that the cancer could have started inhabiting her body since then.

 

Rebecca is a single mother who used to love going on camping trips with her family, travelling abroad, studying, spending time with her friends and living life. We have not seen this side to her for many years now.

Rebecca has spent her life talking care of her children, her family, working, getting a 1:1 degree in finance and constantly putting people everyone else ahead of herself. It’s now time for her to be put first.

 

Our mother will now be under going surgery within the next month. She will be go through extensive surgery removing many organs. Dependant on what they find/ do not find will determine whether or not her life can then be prolonged with rounds of chemo/further treatment in the summer.

 

Currently she is unable to work as she is either riddled with pain or too exhausted to leave her bed. Her quality of life has been non existent for far too long.

 

I am hoping as a community that we can give my mum the chance to spend some quality time with her youngest children on either day trips or adventures, help with the necessary equipment to get Rebecca mobile or what ever they so chose as soon as she is able to.
