Freedom on Wheels: A Motorhome for My Quadriplegic Dad

Hi, I’m TJ, and I’m raising funds to help give my dad his freedom back.

At just 35 years old, my dad’s life changed forever. He was the victim of an intentionally caused car crash that left him paralyzed from the neck down — a quadriplegic. Doctors told us he’d never breathe on his own. That he’d never move his arms. That he would only live one year.

But my dad defied every single one of those odds.

He breathes on his own. He’s still here with us — more than a decade later — and he wakes up every day with a smile, even while battling unimaginable pain, infections, anemia, and pressure sores. Most of his time is spent in bed, confined by the limits of his body — but not by his spirit.

We’re trying to raise $50,000 to purchase and customize a wheelchair-accessible motorhome for my dad. This isn’t just about travel — it’s about giving him the chance to live again. This motorhome would allow him to go outside, visit family, see the world beyond the bedroom window, and rediscover his love for life on the road.

Despite everything, my dad never complains. He finds joy in all music —and his favorite car shows on YouTube like #CleetusMcFarland, #ViceGripGarage. These little moments of joy keep him going when the pain feels endless. But what he wants more than anything is to have adventures again — to roll out of bed and into the world.

Your support will help give my dad hope — and help others like him believe that life doesn’t end with a spinal cord injury. He wants to show people that even in a body that doesn’t work the way it used to, there’s still laughter, love, and life to be lived.
