      Hi this is Michala and Max.   We have been friends since 2006, when we met on the very first day of first grade. Even though we now live in different states, our friendship remains. We both have always had a love for travel and playing with younger children. We have traveled extensively and have always made time to interact with the communities we visit.
       When we completed our first year of Spanish class, we had a vision to combine our love for learning the language with our passion for helping others. Together we began to plan on how to accomplish this. With many hours of research and discussions with our parents we realized the job was too big for high school students alone.  We reached out to Kristin Ostby from Boys Hope Girls Hope and other memebers of the Guatemalan community that we had befriended to help us make our dream a reality.
      Together we started Through Their Eyes in order to allow other kids the opportunity to experience cultural immersion and community service as we both have in the past. We  maintain a true belief that giving back and learning about the magnificence that lies within the differences between people and cultures has made our lives more full.  We cannot wait to share this experience with others around the globe.
     The students who join us will be giving their time to teach, play and work with the Children of Esperanza Juvenil Guatemala and their families and the Mayan communities they come from. They will be teaching technolgy and life skills to the children and learning spanish conversational skills while they work.  
     The funds we raise will provide the funding for the community service projects we are doing,  as well as bring some needed technology and educational materials to the children we work with. We will be providing needed life skills education and your donations are providing invaluable experiences for all the children we encounter.   Funds will be allocated to each of the community service programs we work in as well as much needed improvements on the school.
    We really appreciate every dollar you can donate and will be sure to send updates and pictures through our website as we travel.

Through Their Eyes Foundation has partnered with The Chardan Medical Foundation who currently does educational outreach in Tanzania.  Our hope is in the future  to take our  service program to Africa and beyond. In addition, this partnership allows for your donation to be tax deductible.
