Trust Fund for Rahsaan's Kids
Donation protected
On January 10, 2017, our community lost a beloved friend, father, son and brother Rahsaan Kinlaw. Rahsaan was born in New York in 1973 however he spent a great portion of his life in Atlanta, GA. The people in Atlanta know Rahsaan to be a fun, caring man who would do anything for anyone. His death was sudden and unexpected leaving behind two young sons. A few years ago, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure however due to a change in his diet and vitamin supplements he had begun to feel great again. He considered himself to be a healthy male working everyday as a General Contractor. While at work on the morning of January 9th he complained of a headache, fell and was rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, we learned that his blood pressure was so high that it caused a brain aneurysm and a massive stroke.
The purpose of this page is for two reasons. The first is to continue the legacy of our friend for his son’s sake. Like so many young people we often fail to maintain life insurance due to the hardships of life. As his friends and family, we do not want this to affect his children financially. In his name, we are requesting donations to start a trust fund for both his sons. Rahsaan was an entrepreneur and business owner and he believed in financial freedom. In his absence, we ask that you help us help his children. This trust fund is just a symbol of our love and friendship for Rahsaan.
The second purpose of the page is to bring awareness about the dangers of high blood pressure. According to the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/dhdsp/data_statistics/fact_sheets/fs_bloodpressure.htm)
• Having high blood pressure puts you at risk for heart disease and stroke, which are leading causes of death in the United States.
• About 75 million American adults (32%) have high blood pressure—that’s 1 in every 3 adults.
• Only about half (54%) of people with high blood pressure have their condition under control.
• High blood pressure was a primary or contributing cause of death for more than 410,000 Americans in 2015—that's more than 1,100 deaths each day.
If you have high blood pressure it is imperative that you comply with your doctor’s orders. Hopefully this story can bring awareness to someone else and save their life.
This fund has been set up by the friends of Rahsaan and all the proceeds will be split amongst his children. He will forever be remembered for his fun, outgoing personality. If you ever met Rahsaan consider yourself lucky!!!
