About Trumbullplex
The Trumbullplex is a collective owned and operated micro-community located in the historic Woodbridge neighborhood of Detroit. Our goal is to combat the negative effects of gentrification in the city by providing accessible resources to locals and visitors, especially to support creativity, well-being, community building, & affordable housing. We are most well known for our donation based DIY gathering space, affectionately known as “The Theater” or just “Trumbullplex”. However, we accomplish our goals through a variety of projects, including the gathering space, green space, perpetually affordable housing collective, and more.
We believe in curating a safe space with an emphasis on consent culture; we don’t tolerate any form of disrespect, violence or discrimination. We are committed to restorative justice and open to facilitating conversations around any violations to our values that occur within our space.
How We Use Donations
This GoFundMe supports the Trumbullplex Micro-Community with our expenses in various ways, including:
NOTE: The $10,000 goal was set because we have to set one with GoFundMe, but we
accept donations on an ongoing basis. We also use GoFundMe to accept e-payments as donations at our shows.
All in all, we’ve had estimates at about $1.1 million to do all the repairs for the property and make adjustments to the non-profit. That doesn’t even account for regular expenses or maintenance. We will update this page or make separate GoFundMe pages for those projects as we receive information.
