Truett's Adoption

Donation protected
In early September we got a phone call that would change the trajectory of our family forever. On the other end of the line was a social worker from our adoption agency. She informed us that a little baby boy had been born earlier that morning and he needed a forever home if we were willing. Through tears of shock and joy we eagerly told her yes. One moment we were getting ready to eat lunch and the next we were scrambling to put a hospital bag together. Within an hour we were in the car headed to meet our son at the hospital.

As we walked down the hallway we both felt a sense of nervousness and excitement. The moment we had been waiting and praying for over the last several months was here. The nurse pointed to which cradle he was in and we walked over. Laying there on his back, was the most beautiful boy either one of us had ever laid eyes on. The next several minutes, hours and days were spent holding and kissing him; reading and singing to him and, most importantly, letting him know how much we loved him. After what felt like forever, we were finally able to take him home a few days later and have him meet his sisters. The last couple of months have been filled with so much joy and healing for our family. It has felt like a dream. We all love this little boy, Truett, so incredibly much.

When we first began the adoption process we didn't really know what to expect. You can read all of the information that the agency sends but it doesn't really mean much until you are in that actual step of the process. We are thankful for friends who have journeyed ahead of us and whose wisdom we have been able to glean from. One of the things we wildly underestimated was the cost involved. By the time Truett's adoption is finalized, we will have paid over $30,000 out of pocket. Throughout the process we have continued to pray that God would provide and He continues to do so. We have sacrificed and looked for different sources of income where possible. We've gone back and forth many times on whether or not we would create something like this. It's a very humbling place to be to ask friends and family for financial help. But ultimately, we concluded that there might be some who genuinely want to contribute to Truett's adoption.

So for anyone interested in giving, know that every single cent will go towards what we owe our adoption agency. They cover all aspects of the process, including the legal portion of it all. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We are so grateful for your generosity. It is something we don't take lightly.

God Bless,
