Please let's all help pop make sure nan will have one less stress for a moment while she grieves her loving husband of 36 years. Let's help give him the send off he deserves.
Hello, my name is Victoria Johnston and I am one of Troy Johnston's granddaughters. I have created this page to share Pop’s (Troy) story and some of the struggles he and our family has had to face as we seek out financial support to ease money pressures.
My Poppy is about to turn 56 next week and is a hilarious, brave, caring, adoring Pop that is loved by all. 11 months ago Pop was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and underwent 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation to help shrink the tumour in order to have surgery. After 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, Pop had an oesophagectomy to remove his oesophagus, turning his stomach into the new oesophagus.
After Pop’s surgery, he started immunotherapy treatment which was meant to be once a month for 12 months and we thought he would then be okay. Heartbreakingly, after 4 months of immunotherapy Pop has been getting more sick so after further tests over the last 2 weeks, Pop has been told his cancer is now stage 4 with the cancer having spread to his bones, lymph nodes and bowel.
The doctors have said there is nothing more they can do so Pop has made the decision to stop treatment as it makes him sick and isn’t working. We have been told to spend as much time with Pop and make the most of what little time we have left. Sadly, Poppy is likely to have a few months left with us although his health is deteriorating rapidly.
I would like to raise money for my beautiful grandparents to help with any and all costs and anything else they'll need so they don’t have to sell their cars and other items for money and can focus on enjoying what time we have left with Pop.
This is an extremely difficult time for our family and we are extremely grateful for any financial support to take some stresses off us while we make Pop comfortable. Thank you for helping make things a bit easier for Nan and Pop.
