Hello my name is Mario Gabriel Fanego. I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 17 at Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.  I am working towards my Eagle Rank. I began my scouting adventure at age 7 with the Cub Scouts, and at 10 moved up to Boy Scouts. I am now a Life Scout, have surpassed the Eagle Scout Merit Badge requirement achieving 44 merit badges, was nominated into the Order of the Arrow (the Boy Scout Honor Society), held several positions of responsibilities, including Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Historian, and have been very active with the Troop and its activities including volunteering. 
As a volunteer, I have accumulated over 200 hours serving as a Counselor in Training(CIT) at the cub scout summer camp Yaw Paw, collecting nonperishable food donations for the local food pantry and working at various Eagle Projects for fellow Scouts. 
My journey is now working towards earning the highest and most honored rank in Scouting, that of Eagle Scout.  To earn the Eagle rank I must plan, develop, and provide leadership to others in a service project helpful to the community.  For my Eagle Scout Project, I have chosen to a make a memorial garden in memory of my 7th grade teacher Mrs. Aguilar who passed away suddenly this past September.  The memorial garden will consist of 5 shrubs, a memorial bench, and a memorial stone. Since Mrs. Aguilar always put her students first, I will also be constructing an outdoor chess/checker board for the students to learn how to play chess/checker sort of like they did in the medieval times.
It is a big project that will require many hours of labor and approximately $2,500.00 in materials.  I started this GoFundMe because I am requesting for contributions to fund the cost of the materials necessary for the construction and completion of this project.  My goal is to have these funds by April 15, 2021 so I can make the purchases necessary to start the project in May of 2021. Any financial assistance you can offer to help me achieve my goal of completing this project will be greatly appreciated.  No amount is too small, and in the unlikely event any funds remain after the project is finished, they will go directly to the recipient of the project: The Little Ferry Board of Education.
