Dear Trojan Family and friends, we need your help.

Our friend, Joanne Asman, the longtime owner and trainer of the horse that is the heart and soul behind USC’s iconic Mascot, has suffered a major setback!

For decades, Joanne has dedicated her life to the caring and training of our favorite Mascot, Traveler®, the majestic white horse who leads the Trojans onto the field and brings pride to USC fans across the nation. From game days at the Coliseum to charity events, to elementary school visits, and other special appearances, this duo are truly ambassadors of Trojan spirit.

Recently, Joanne was involved in a devastating hit-and-run accident, when another truck slammed into her vehicle. Thankfully, Joanne survived the crash, but she suffered a significant concussion and painful injuries, and is still recovering.

The truck Joanne was driving saved her life, but it was TOTALED in the accident. Unfortunately, this is the same truck used to transport our beloved mascot to games, events, and appearances. The driver fled the scene (and still has not been found!), and insurance won’t fully cover the losses.

Now Joanne is without a reliable truck, so she must rent a vehicle each time our mascot needs to travel. While this presents some logistical challenges, Joanne remains dedicated to continuing the tradition. However, replacing the specialized truck is expensive, and the cost of renting, coupled with the insurance underpayment, adds to an already challenging situation. She is still recovering from her injuries, while also caring for her husband, John (a long-time member of the beloved game day crew), who now requires home care. Your support will significantly help alleviate the financial burden for both Joanne and John.
