The Graham Family recently received the incredibly heartbreaking and devastating news that every parent fears; their sweet, fun loving, adventurous, four year old son Tristen was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno. Tristen has already had so many medical challenges and hospital stays in his short four years, to have to endure another fight is something no one ever wants their child to go through.
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer that affects the white blood cells. These cells fight infection and help protect the body against disease. Patients with ALL have too many immature white blood cells in their bone marrow. These cells crowd out normal white blood cells. Without enough normal white blood cells, the body has a harder time fighting infections.
ALL affects a type of white blood cell called lymphocytes, causing them to build up in the liver, spleen and lymph nodes.
Tristen will be in treatment for at least two years receiving Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy (“chemo”) — uses powerful medicines to kill cancer cells or stop them from growing (dividing) and making more cancer cells. With such a recent diagnosis this is all that we know at this time for his plan for treatment, we will update you as that information comes in.
As you know medical expenses and just the day to day expenses that come with having a child in the hospital for any amount of time can be very overwhelming, let alone for two years. Tiffanie and Tyler are both teachers, an occupation that you go into for the outcome and not the income. In order to be able to be there for Tristen during this time and ensure that he has all of the support that he will need, Tiffanie will be taking a leave of absence to be with him full-time through this battle, since Tristen will not be able to attend daycare. Losing an income on top of all of the new bills and expenses will undoubtedly be very challenging, which is why this GoFundMe was created. It is our goal that we can ease this burden in any way, when you are helping your child fight their battle against cancer the last thing they should have to worry about is finances.
Any donation or support is so greatly appreciated and will go directly to The Grahams to help them during this time. Tristen is a fighter and with God’s help he will overcome this battle. God Bless and thank you for reading Tristen’s story.
