Trisha & Family expenses while getting treatment
Donation protected
On February 20, after treating what she thought was an infection, she went to the ER and after many tests, scans, assessments and labs she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was transferred to Methodist in Omaha and spent time there until March 22nd isolated in a room receiving some very intense chemotherapy. Following my discharge, she continued in outpatient treatmens for four consolidated treatments. This consisted of spending 6 days in the hospital for chemo and IVIG therapy and than 2 weeks at home on oral chemo and a week off. Trisha is finishing her 4th and final treatment right now.
On June 13, her husband Mike and herself went to an appointment with the bone marrow transplant doctor. When they entered this appointment, they assumed this was routine in the event she needed a transplant sometime down the road. However, that day wasn't routine, she was told she needed a transplant. Mike, her sister Tonia and Trisha was very shocked and very sad with the news knowing that this news would be a super hard journey of treatments and then eventually a transplant. As if this didnt rock their world, that doctor told them that she would have to go to the hospital 8 days before the transplant, stay in the hospital for
2-3 weeks and then 100 days in Omaha (or 30 minutes of the hospital) .
This causes many heartaches for all of us. Especially her immediate family. Not having Trisha at home for such a long period of time. The community has been so gracious throughout everything. Support through flowers, balloons, books, gift cards etc. We appreciate it all.
Most recently she has been notified that they have chosen a donor and are making the arrangements for him/her to undergo the pre-collection and collection steps. We are praying that this process starts soon (so it will be over soon)!! Please keep Trisha in your prayers. Prayers for everything to flow swiftly and that there are no speed bumps. Prayers that this new bone marrow heals her body so she can continue to be an amazing mother, wife,daughter,sister-in-law, aunt and friend to everyone.
If you would please consider helping her and her family with these hardship expenses to help offset the cost of the hotel expenses, food and gas, it all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Trisha and her family. This will take a huge burden off of them.
