Meilin is a survivor. She is one of the bravest kids I know. Many of you do not know her story so let me tell you more about her beginnings.
Meilin was abandoned by her birth mother and was left in an orphanage for 19 months where she was severely neglected. Because of the abandonment, neglect and medical trauma, she has complex developmental trauma. Stemming from that diagnosis, anxiety and OCD.
This January, after some very stressful situations at school, she began pulling out her hair. In March she was diagnosed with Trichotillomania. Trichotillomania is a disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out hair. Most times she doesn't even realize she is doing it. The loss of her hair is causing her distress and she has much apprehension about going back to school.
Meilin is more than her diagnosis though. Many of you know that she is a talented athlete, enjoys acting and singing, fishing, and animals. She has a great sense of humor and is empathetic.
Meilin has had years of therapy to heal from her past. However, this disorder needs a special kind of therapy, a therapy which insurance DOES NOT cover. After many sleepless nights searching for answers, I joined a facebook group called, The Trichy Picky Parent group where I learned about Trichotillomania Relief Specialists and their 90 day distance personal breakthrough coaching program.
