Hi! On August 6/7, I am racing in the Toyota Age-Group National Triathlon Championship in honor of the heroes at Roscoe Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Please consider donating to raise funds for training and equipment for these heroes.
Eight years ago, as many of you know, on Matilda's first birthday, we were in a very serious car accident that injured Matilda and me. Within minutes of being hit by a semi, many emergency responders arrived at the scene including the heroes at Roscoe Ambulance. One team took Matilda by ambulance to the local hospital, and provided her with in-transit emergency first aid for her numerous injuries. Another team stayed with me, including one superhero who climbed into the wreckage, stabilized me, and was there when I gained conciousness. He kept me from panicking over Matilda, he stayed with me while the fire department cut a giant hole in the car, he stayed with me in the ambulance, he provided emergency first aid on the way to the hospital. and he even had me laughing a few times. This man, along with the other emergency responders, is a hero of the highest order.
A year and a half later we met our heroes at their annual dinner as we were the surprise guests of the evening! It was an amazing opportunity for them to see their hard work pay off and for us to thank these amazing humans. These are people who have lives, have families, have interests, but still race towards danger when duty calls. They. Are. Amazing.
So, with gratitude, I am dedicating my upcoming triathlon weekend to these heroes and respectfully ask for you to donate so they can have ongoing training and buy much-needed equipment. Thank you.
