Trenton's Legacy: A Family's Journey
Donation protected
"There are some that bring a light so bright to the world, that even after they are gone, their light remains."
These words describe Trenton Ward to a "T".
On September 29th, 2023, at the age of 20, Trenton was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT). A rare, agressive soft tissue, sarcoma affecting approximately one in 1 BILLION people. It commonly occurs in Caucasian males between the ages of 20-30.
Our one in a billion Trenton was ready to fight.
And, for nearly 18 months, he fought. He fought HARD.
With his "best mom, better than the rest mom" Alissa, by his side every moment, together they went into battle. Their powerful, impenetrable mother-son bond forging them through every step. Through good days, bad days, tears, fears and uncertainty.
And laughter. Oh, there was laughter! No matter how bad it got, Trenton would always use his gift of humor to bring laughter to any moment, any situation. Right up until the very end.
In the early morning hours of Tuesday March 25th, Trenton's brave battle was lost. The pain was over.
At only 21 years old, his earthly light was dimmed.
Trenton's wish was that he could help others by having his remains donated to the Cleveland Clinic for research. His wish has been granted. His light continues to shine.
T didn't want a sad, dreary, dark funeral. He wanted a celebration. A time when everyone his light touched could gather, tell stories, and, of course, laugh.
Alissa and her husband, Eric, have dedicated their lives to the health, safety and well-being of the public. Alissa first as an ER nurse, now as a Neurosurgery Certified Nurse Practitioner. Eric as Firefighter Paramedic.
They have asked for nothing in return.
Now, on their behalf, and with their consent, we are.
Please consider a gift to help them. A donation will not only help assist with some left over family expenses, T's celebration of life, and burial of his remains after they are used for research and education.
All thoughtful donations are meaningful and deeply appreciated.
We thank you.
