My name is Lin and I live in East Portland. My neighbor is Barbara. She's a senior citizen on a limited income. She is a widow and lives with her daughter who is on SSI, her granddaughter, and her granddaughter's fiance who was injured and is now unable to work in construction after he was injured in a car accident. This new year was difficult and they just lost their older husky, Token, and cat, Bagheera, when the ice storm rolled around. Most of us were sitting at home and heard what we thought was an explosion, but it was the tree from across the street from Barbara that had fallen in the storm, crushing all her cars, going through her porch, roof, attic, and chimney. Jeff, her roommate, had just driven back from work and was still in his car when the tree fell, smashing through his windshield. They have gaping holes through the second floor and an ice storm is again coming tomorrow. This is to help Barbara cover her costs as as she is scrambling to cover her deductibles, pay for heating, the down payments for clean up, the repairs, and she has already had to pay $500 just for the tarps to cover her roof to keep out the elements and $475 for saying goodbye to Token. Please consider sharing this or donating so they (and their pet family) can return to living safely. Thank you.
