Treats 4 Streets – Feeding Hope in Saskatoon
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Andre, and I live in Saskatoon. I’m reaching out to ask for your help in supporting a small but meaningful act of kindness that has grown from a simple idea into something truly impactful.
This year, I noticed an increase in people experiencing homelessness or hardship—many of whom seemed hungry, exhausted, and in need of a break. Some may have been struggling with addiction, mental illness, or trauma, but regardless of their story, one thing was clear: they could use a moment of kindness.
So I started small. I packed my car with baked goods like bagels, muffins, donuts, and loaf cakes—items I paid for out of pocket—and handed them out to people I met on the street. I parked my car and simply asked, “Would you like a treat?” The response was powerful. About 99% of people gratefully accepted the offer. That small act made a real difference, so I continued doing it for a few more days.
I sourced the items through discounted grocery programs like FlashFood, which sells bakery items nearing their expiry at significantly reduced prices. Even so, I quickly realized that covering the cost myself was not sustainable in the long run. I knew I had to make a choice: either stop, or ask for help.
That’s what led me here.
Why I Started This GoFundMe:I’m humbly asking for your support so I can continue offering fresh, ready-to-eat snacks to people in need—no strings attached. My plan is to use the funds to buy bakery goods from Flashfood, and hand them out on days when the treats are available. They will be handed out directly from my vehicle at a reasonable rate of delivery. Nothing will be stored or hoarded; it will all be distributed immediately to people on the street.
Where Your Donations Will Go:3
100% of the money will go directly to purchasing food.No funds will be used for gas, time, transportation, or personal use.If, for any reason, I’m unable to continue, any remaining funds will be donated to a local charity such as the Salvation Army or a community soup kitchen.
This project is based on trust, transparency, and compassion. There are no gimmicks or personal agendas—just one person wanting to offer comfort and kindness to another.
My Goal:To be a small but meaningful part of a larger movement of community care. If this grows, I will continue as long as I’m able—using your donations to keep this going, one treat at a time.
If you’ve ever wanted to help someone struggling but weren’t sure how, this is a simple and direct way to make a difference. You can help bring a small moment of relief, joy, or nourishment to someone who may desperately need it.
Most of the treats that I am interested in handing out are usually ranging in price from $1.75, $2.87 to $5.00, and these amounts make it manageable, affordable, and a true delight in knowing what I can purchase. I also understand that every community has these same issues and my request is not intended to put anyone out of their own potential hardship. The donuts seen in the picture, cost $1.75 plus tax for 1 dozen.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
With much Love and Gratitude,
