WHAT IS THE RETRO COLLECTION?

The Retro Collection (TRC) is a community-funded venue located in Olympia, Washington. Over the past 5 years, we've been fortunate to have survived entirely through our local fighting game + smash bros communities (150+ events yearly, 30+ entries every week!)

WHY ARE WE HOSTING A DONATION DRIVE?

As you can imagine, our little venue doesn't make the largest profits every month. (We have more or less broke-even for 5 years). In order to provide more fun experiences to the scene, we're looking to host a donation drive to fund a larger renovation.

WHY ARE WE PLANNING TO DO WITH THE DONATIONS?

Our #1 priority is to break the wall separating our side rooms. Our venue was originally a radio station, so the layout is extremely awkward for hosting events. For TRC regulars, they'll know how cramped the building feels. Opening up the space will allow us to potentially diversify the types of events we can host! (TCG, viewing parties, video production, etc)

HOW MUCH MONEY ARE WE TRYING TO RAISE?

Ideally, we're looking to potentially raise around $2000-ish to pay for the completion of our renovations. Breaking the wall, adding floorboards, installing a projector, painting the rooms, labor, etc. It unfortunately costs a lot to keep this place moving.

DIDN'T WE HAVE A RENOVATION IN 2020?

We originally had a renovation back in 2020 (pre-quarantine) that got us to where the building is today. That renovation involved replacing walls, floors, patching the ceiling, electrical, etc. Unfortunately COVID hit us that same year, and caused us a lot of complications (financially and personally). We were fortunate to survive that tough year. 3 years later, we're looking to finally finish up what we were planning to do pre-COVID.
