Travon Walker has been selected as the Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP after donating $5,000 and packing 500 bags to combat weekend food insecurity among North Florida students.

“Being named NFLPA Community MVP is an incredible honor, and being able to make a difference in the communities around me means even more,” Walker said. “Helping support 500 students in Jacksonville alongside Blessings in a Backpack was bigger than football, and I’m grateful to everyone who came together to make it possible.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end and his nonprofit, the Travon Walker Foundation, teamed up with Blessings in a Backpack to provide 500 students at North Shore Elementary School with backpacks filled with nutritious, shelf-stable food for weekends away from school.

Walker’s $5,000 donation marked the school’s first donation from an NFL player, making the event a meaningful milestone for the North Shore community.

Walker, alongside volunteers, packed individual food bags for every student. He also took the time to write notes of encouragement for an added personal touch of support.

The event ended with a check presentation highlighting the Travon Walker Foundation’s goal to help bridge the 65-hour gap in access to healthy, reliable meals that many students face between Friday afternoon and Monday morning.

Since its launch in 2023, the Travon Walker Foundation has had a positive impact on more than 3,800 children and their families in underserved communities.

With youth support at the forefront of its mission, the nonprofit has donated more than $450,000, including a $44,000 contribution to the University of Georgia Athletic Association and $176,000 to Upson-Lee High School’s athletic programs.

Walker’s commitment to giving back is reflected in the time he invests in the communities that have shaped him, regularly hosting events in both his hometown and team city.

Earlier this year, Walker held his fourth annual youth football camp in Thomaston, Georgia, where he provided access to elite training and 150 pairs of cleats to young athletes. He also annually organizes his Bless Up 44 Thanksgiving drive during the holiday season.

In honor of Walker being selected as the Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP and to further support his off-field impact, the NFLPA will donate $10,000 to his nonprofit of choice.

Additionally, Walker and the other selected Community MVPs will be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor for outstanding community service and includes an additional $100,000 donation.

For the second year in a row, the NFLPA is partnering with GoFundMe, the world’s leading fundraising platform, allowing fans to support players’ community efforts through their selected nonprofits.

All donations are tax-deductible and will go directly to the player’s nonprofit of choice.

Back for its 13th season, the NFLPA’s award-winning Community MVP program serves as a driving force behind the union’s commitment to highlighting the year-round civic outreach and community engagement of its player members.

Community MVPs are selected by a committee of NFLPA staff that reviews the nominees submitted each week by players, agents, marketing representatives and NFL team staff.
