Travel for Cher Patrick's National Swim Career

Hello Dear Extended Patrick Family and Friends,

Alex Patrick here. I am raising money for Cher Patrick's National Swim career. I am very sorry that I need to turn to you all for help but that is where we are.

We are very pleased that Cher has been offered and accepted a full-ride athletic scholarship to swim for Brigham Young University and compete in the BIG 12. Cher is currently a high school junior. She will report to Provo Utah to begin her swim career with BYU in August of 2025. At that point, she will enjoy the blessings of her scholarship offer, as BYU will begin to fund her career and much of her swim related travel. Until then, we continue to bare the responsibility to fund all aspects of her swim career.

Cher is currently on pace to compete for a BIG 12 Championship in the 1650 freestyle and other distance freestyle events. In fact, based on her times from this past summer, Cher would have made the A Final in the 1650 freestyle at last year's BIG12 Championship Meet. She likely would have qualified for the NCAA Championship. Cher is also on the cusp of making USA Swimming's Junior Nation Open Water Swim Team and competing at the World Championship for Team USA.

Cher has advanced to swimming at the National Level. This has increased our expense significantly. This invitation is simply that, an invitation to participate in Cher's swim career by helping to provide resources to help her travel and compete. Please do not in any way feel obligated to help. This is just an invitation to help if you are able and comfortable.

This is a request is for your help as we work to provide all that Cher needs to fully meet her potential. This is the first time we have asked for assistance of this type. We have determined that it is appropriate to restrict our request to close family and friends. With so much other need in the world, we will not be posting this on social media outside of family threads and direct contact from me.

For the last 10 years we have been providing all financial resources for Cher's swim career. My tremendous thanks to Edy, for all of her full-time efforts in the workforce to help meet these needs. She continues those efforts. I, of course, continue my full time work as well.

Currently the financial needs breaks down from now through this summer as follows:

These are my best estimates.

Monthly costs - Including coaching fees, event entry fees, equipment (excluding tech suits), local travel expenses (excluding vehicle expenses). Total $500 a month.

Transportation cost for Cher to drive a car to her 9 workouts each week not listed or included.

$4,000 - Total of Monthly costs at $500 x 8 (Dec. 2023 to July 2024)

$1,200 - Purchase 3 Tech Suits per year

We are able to continue to cover the above expenses.

$1,500 - Southeastern Championship, (Huntsville AL, Feb 15 - 17, 2024), (hotel, gas, food, misc.)

$1,200 - Open Water National and Junior Championships, (USA Swimming, Sarasota FL, May 3 - 5, 2024), (hotel, gas, food, misc.)

$900 - Southern Zone Open Water Championship, (USA Swimming, Lucas KY, May 31 - June 2, 2024), (hotel, gas, food, misc.)

$1,500 - Futures Championship, (USA Swimming, Ocala FL, July 24 - 28, 2024), (hotel, gas, food, misc.)

$4,000 - Speedo Summer Junior National Championship, (USA Swimming, Irvine CA, July 23 - 27, 2024), (she still needs to qualify for this event, she is less than 5 seconds from qualifying in 2 different distance freestyle events, if she qualifies she will swim this event instead of the Futures Championship above), (air travel, hotel, rental car, gas, food, misc.)

$9,600 (if Futures Championship instead of Summer Junior Nationals)

If excess funds are raised, they will be held for Cher's future travel expenses after July of 2024.

If our need is met outside of Go Fund Me I will shut this down immediately.
