Travel expenses to get Mum home!

Hi, my name is Kerry. My siblings and I are fundraising to help with the transportation costs to relocate Mum back to Qld to be near her children and grandchildren.

Four years ago, Mum was living with her long-term partner in Kyabram, Victoria, when she suffered a massive stroke resulting in significant hemiplegia down her left side, speech/visual impairment and chronic nerve pain. She spent over 12 months in hospital receiving physical rehabilitation but was unable to regain any level of independence and was moved to a local aged care facility.

Unfortunately, her partner (her only visitor) has passed away and Mum now finds herself left in a rural nursing facility, severely depressed and isolated.

Mum is only 69 years old and has many more years left to live.

Any funds received will go toward travel expenses (Mum requires a wheelchair transport service to get to the airport) and flights for her and my sister (an enrolled nurse) as she requires a companion/carer.

Yes, it is a logistical nightmare (hoisting on planes, toileting, etc.), but we will persevere the hurdles necessary to get Mum home.
