Trauma therapy for Abby

In November 2020, Abby had a traumatic brain injury which caused her to reset back to July 2018. She believed she was 8, forgot she moved, and woke up everyday thinking she had gone to play soccer the day before.

It has taken 2 years for Abby to get her memories back, and in the midst of this, we began to understand a very sad truth behind why her brain chose to reset to the summer of 2018: she was trying to block out a horrific, traumatic event that occurred in the fall of 2018. Her brain used the injury as an opportunity to block.

On top of the thousands already spent on doctor bills for her rare brain injury, she now needs extensive trauma support and therapy. Abby's injuries require a very specialized and expensive form of psychiatric--combined with neurological--treatment. Most of this will not be covered by insurance, and the expense is more than her family can afford.

Currently Abby has seizures and memory loss, which her family believes can be reversed with the right treatment. One of her dreams is to be able to drive a car when she turns 16!
