My name is İhsan Erz. I am a professional translator and the founder of Tercüme Marketi in Türkiye. Through my work with people preparing documents for education, healthcare, family, immigration, and legal processes, I have seen how much can depend on a translation being accurate and ready when it is needed.
I have also seen people reach a difficult final step: they have the document and an opportunity ahead of them, but cannot afford the professional translation required to use it. I created Translate a Future to help remove that barrier.
The program will initially be carried out through Tercüme Marketi in Türkiye and our U.S. solution partner, WinPLUS Translate. I will oversee how applications are assessed, how approved translation work is arranged, and how the project’s results are reported to supporters.
A document can stand between someone and their next step.
It may be a diploma needed for an application, a transcript needed to continue an education, a medical record needed for care, a court document needed for a legal process, or a family document needed to reunite loved ones. The document exists. The next step is possible. But if it must be used in another language, the cost of professional translation can become one obstacle too many.
Translate a Future raises funds to provide free or sponsor-supported document translation to people who need it and are struggling to pay for it. Depending on the document and the requirements of the receiving institution, support may cover professional translation, sworn or certified translation, and necessary official or notarial approval costs.
Applicants will not receive cash. Funds will be used to arrange approved services and cover eligible document-related costs. Each request will be assessed according to the person’s need, the document’s purpose, the services required, and the funds available. Support is not limited to one nationality or one type of applicant: students, graduates, migrants, families, patients, and people dealing with legal or administrative procedures may all be considered.
Our initial fundraising goal is $12,000. It will help us begin accepting and assessing requests, pay for approved translation work, and cover necessary approval costs where appropriate. The exact number of people, documents, and words supported will depend on the languages, complexity, document requirements, and actual cost of each case. We will not claim that this first fundraising goal alone can pay for one million words.
One million professionally translated words is our longer-term impact goal. As the program develops, we intend to report the number of words translated, people supported, documents completed, and languages served. We will share progress without publishing applicants’ private documents or identifying details.
Supporters can contribute any amount. As a guide, a $25 gift can contribute to a translation; $50 can help with a document; and $100 or more can contribute to translation and, when required, an official approval. These amounts are contributions to a shared fund, not promises that a particular donation will pay for a complete document. Larger gifts can support more extensive files or help several applicants.
Law firms, immigration advisers, universities, healthcare providers, and community organizations may refer people who need help. They do not have to donate to make a referral. Professional translators and language specialists may also volunteer, allowing available funds to reach more people. Documents requiring sworn, legal, medical, or other specialist handling will remain subject to appropriate professional review.
Transparency matters. Translate a Future will initially operate through WinPLUS Translate in the United States and Tercüme Marketi in Türkiye. These and other participating professional language service providers may receive payment for work performed under the program. Donations may also cover necessary document or approval costs, payment processing fees, and reasonable costs directly required to run the program. We will communicate this relationship openly and report the program’s activity and use of funds as it develops.
A translation cannot guarantee that an application will be accepted or that a particular institution will approve a document. It can, however, give someone access to the professional document service they need to take the next step.
A diploma can open a path to education. A medical record can help someone seek care. A family document can help people move toward being together again.
One document. One person. One future.
Help us begin. Donate, refer someone in need, volunteer, or share Translate a Future.
