Good Morning Everyone!


Throughout the holidays, many of us treat ourselves to festive gatherings with friends and family. It’s the time of year best known for lavish parties and presents, holiday cocktails and sharp outfits. Many of us living in this beautiful city will spend quite a substantial amount of money on ourselves and our loved ones this holiday season. During a time when we indulge ourselves in the joys and comforts of the holidays, let’s not forget that our city’s most disenfranchised experience the season in a much different way. If we take a small step back and keep our eyes open, we begin to see that even a few dollars can make a meaningful contribution to our local community. 

I want to bring together as many Transit Security, Transit Police & Transit Road Supervisors together in December to give out some packages to the downtown homeless. We are the 3 departments other than the Transit Supervisors that deal with this group of individuals the most, majority of the time in a negative way. I thought during the Christmas season it would be nice to interact with these individuals in a more positive way. 

As the weather gets colder, local shelters are often overrun and the need for healthy meals and warm clothes are often far greater than the supply. So we’re gathering funds to provide “Christmas packages” for those in need. For every $20.00, these packages will include the following:


- Pair of gloves ($2.00)

- Pair of weatherproof socks ($2.00)

- Toque ($2.00)

- $5.00 GIFT card to Tim Hortons

- Water botte/ Granola bar/banana

- Camping Blanket ($7.00)

We are taking donations from anyone ! But the event itself will only be for the members/families of Transit Security, Transit Police & Transit Supervisors. I am hoping in the future this event can grow to a point where more people could attend.
