Transilience: Support trans youth in North Devon

Trans people, especially youth, and especially those of us in Devon, are undergoing an incredibly challenging time. Relentless political attacks, a failing healthcare system, poor mental health outcomes, and shocking rates of homelessness are just a few of the problems we are currently facing.

We want to do our part to change this. We are a new grassroots organisation aiming to support trans young people in North Devon. We aim to do this through 1:1 and group support for young people and their families, and through providing certified training for professionals that come into contact with young people.

We have been set up by a mother and (trans) son, and over the past few months we have registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC), have started to put together a fantastic board of trustees, and have been working with LGBTQ+ organisations across Devon to establish our mission.

We are in the process of securing funding from various sources. In the meantime, we would deeply appreciate your support whilst we undergo our launch.

We cherish the culture of mutual aid within the LGBTQ+ community. However, we do not want anyone to feel obligated to support us financially or to risk their financial security on our behalf.

All donations will be invested directly into the work of Transilience CIC. Funding would initially go towards running focus groups with young people to understand what services would best support them to live healthy and happy lives. Extra funding would go towards leaflets and posters raising awareness of our work in the local community.
