Community, you may remember that earlier this year, we raised money to get Momma and her kids here in support of helping them build a better future.
Since arriving, Momma has chosen to return to South America for multiple reasons, including family illness at home and the difficulty finding the necessary resources to establish any opportunity here in the United States. We have chosen to support one of her sons in staying in the United States, earning a high school diploma and continuing on to earn a college degree; the first person in his family to ever complete high school, much less attend college.
Upon Momma's return to South America, she will be starting a small business selling food and clothing, an opportunity she always dreamt of but did not have the means to implement until now.
As you might imagine, this social justice endeavor has been extremely expensive for us in both time and money. Not only having a large family live with us, but arranging and paying for travel needs, their South American family needs to survive in their absence, and now the multiple attorneys needed to protect their future.
We would be incredibly grateful for anything you’re comfortable sharing with us, and more than happy to share more about our story if you want to reach out and learn more.
