Transform the life of a whole family with USD 40

Tax deductible
What if you could transform the life of a whole family with just 40 dollars?
With Abrazar, you can!

This year, Juan and Micaela approached Abrazar´s team looking for advice to manage the challenging behavior of their daughters Juana (8) and Emilia (5). They felt overwhelmed with their daily responsibilities. They both worked full-time, shared housework, and raised their children. Recently, they found themselves shouting at Juana and Emilia more frequently or spanking them. They felt guilty and unconfident in their parental skills.

This case is not unique. In Argentina, 35% of children are corporally punished. However, only less than 3% of caregivers think that violence is necessary to educate a child. There is a huge gap between what caregivers believe to be right and what they do.

Abrazar helps parents to be who they dream of being. We do it by 1) screening for at-risk children using tools powered by AI and 2) training psychologists or social workers at local governments to deliver parenting workshops for at-risk families.

Abrazar's early results are impressive. Since August, when high-quality parenting workshops started operating, they have reached over 159 families, including Juan and Micaela. Parent’s confidence in dealing with challenging behavior increased by 34%, and the problematic behavior of their children decreased by 32%. Parents achieved this with positive discipline, which is reflected in a 24% decrease in the use of corporal and psychological punishment.

What best describes the results are families' testimonies:
  • “My children told me: ‘Mum, ¿did you realize that you're yelling a lot less?’”
  • “It was great that my husband participated in the workshop because it gave him strategies to bond with our son and share quality time. Before, he didn’t know how to connect!”
  • “It’s great this is made available to the public so that everyone can access it. Otherwise, when a problem arises, just a few may receive paid professional assistance, and not everyone has that possibility.”

We are looking for an initial investment of US$3,500 to support the families of Villa Allende, a small town on the outskirts of Cordoba Capital (Argentina). With your support, we will train two professionals to conduct the workshops and buy the initial stock of workbooks for the families. The final aim is to reach 500 families in 3 years.

How do we plan to do it?

Abrazar partners with local governments and funds the initial investment to conduct the workshops by training their teams, setting up the logistics to reach a significant part of their population, and providing the materials (which are then reused). We started working in Jesús María City (Córdoba, Argentina) this year, and next one they will incorporate the program into their annual budget. Abrazar builds the capability to boost its impact and make it sustainable.
