Sapphic and Connek, two passionate grassroots organizations, are thrilled to unite in launching this transformative campaign. Together, we aim to raise funds to create The Dream House a multifunctional community hub and safe space in Jamaica for women, non-binary, and trans individuals who continue to endure significant discrimination.

The Dream House is not just a building it’s a vision of hope, empowerment, and belonging. It will serve as a sanctuary where community members can find safety, access vital resources, and thrive in an environment rooted in love, acceptance, and opportunity.

What Will the Dream House Offer?

Safe Housing

The Dream House will provide temporary accommodations for community members who are displaced, offering a secure and stable environment as they work toward long-term solutions.

Entertainment Area

A warm, inclusive space for community events such as movie nights, open mics, cultural celebrations, and other gatherings that foster connection, self-expression, and the building of meaningful relationships.

Library

A quiet, resource-rich environment where community members can broaden their knowledge, develop new skills, and explore personal and professional growth. This space will also include resources for business planning and personal development.

Technical Hub

Access to computers, internet, and technology tools is crucial for tasks like creating resumes, building business plans, studying, or working on creative projects. The hub will be a cornerstone of opportunity and productivity. It will also feature a media hub with filming spaces, podcast areas, and small recording studios, providing a platform for creative individuals to bring their visions to life.

Farming & Sustainability

The Dream House will include an area for community farming, where individuals can grow their own food, learn sustainable agricultural practices, and gain hands-on experience in farming and food production. This space will promote food security, empower individuals to take control of their nourishment, and create opportunities for skill-building and economic independence. It will also serve as an educational hub where community members can learn about sustainable practices, environmental stewardship, and the importance of local agriculture.

Kitchen

Food brings people together, and the Dream House kitchen will be a space to prepare and share meals. Whether it’s community dinners, cooking classes, or intimate celebrations, this space will cultivate a sense of family and unity.

Coworking Space

A dedicated area for collaboration, meetings, and entrepreneurial ventures. The coworking space will spark creativity and innovation, providing resources and inspiration for individuals to pursue their passions.

Community Centre

From hosting workshops and art exhibits to launching small businesses or advocacy campaigns, this flexible space will empower community members to share their talents, celebrate their culture, and take control of their futures. We aim to eliminate the barriers that often prevent marginalized individuals from renting spaces and creating opportunities for themselves.
