Hello, my name is Maria, and I am the founder of My Sister’s Child Inc., a Boston-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved youth through welding, mentorship, workforce and life skills.
On August 16th, 2025, 10am - 3pm at Almont Park in Mattapan MA, we are hosting our second annual “Ready. Set. Arc!” event, a community-powered experience that introduces young people to the world of welding and the opportunities it can unlock. Last year, our inaugural event sparked curiosity, built connections, and inspired participants to see welding and the skilled trades as real career paths. This year, we are determined to make it even bigger, with hands-on welding demos, industry speakers, interactive activities, and resources for youth and families.
We are raising funds to cover the essential costs of bringing this event to life, including:
Equipment and materials for safe, hands-on welding experiences
Guest speakers to inspire and guide youth
Food and event logistics to make it accessible to all
Outreach to ensure we reach as many young people and families as possible
Ready. Set. Arc! is more than an event—it’s a spark. It’s the moment when a young person realizes that they can have a future in welding, in the trades, and in building a stronger community. With your support, we can continue forging those sparks into lasting opportunities.
Every donation helps us create a safe, inspiring, and life-changing experience for youth who need it most.
Join us in lighting the way forward—one weld, one skill, one future at a time.
