Help Vietnamese LGBTQ Elders

I am Phung Truong Tran Dai, Transgender Miss International Queen Vietnam, 2020. After my coronation, I reserved 50% of my prize money to help fund LGBTQ elders and underprivileged orphans in Vietnam. However, as I engage in this community work, I found out that more and more of our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters were living in extreme conditions.

Unfortunately, due to a lifetime of discrimination and social status, many LGBT people in their old age live without proper community supports, in poor health, and are financially insecure. In their retirement age, some have had strokes, have become incapacitated, and some live with debilitating illnesses but still have to work on the streets selling lottery tickets in order to survive. Some of our brothers and sisters, despite their failing health, are still pushing forward by performing drag shows in small villages and community fairs.

My goal is to raise $8,000 USD to carry out this project in Vietnam. I hope those who have the means may be able to spare some love and financial support to our LGBTQ+ elders who live in the margins of our society. I will use these donations to pay some of the medical expenses and provide food to help alleviate some of the hardship for those who are too old or too sick to work. Moreover, those who are able to work but do not have start-up funds, I will use your support to help them start a small business so they can start to become self-sufficient.

We can all understand how important this type of independence is, and the great success that it can lead to. I truly appreciate for your generosity for helping these unfortunate LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters in Vietnam.
