Tragic loss of Father, Help family find support
Donation protected
On June 17, 2025, a beautiful life was taken in an instant. Ashton Wilson, a devoted father, loving fiancé, and gentle soul, was tragically killed in a devastating collision on Whitemud Drive in Edmonton.
Ashton had pulled over near the 111 Street overpass to check something on his van while driving with his four-year-old daughter, Charlize, in the back seat. In that moment, a passing semi-truck struck Ashton while he stood outside the vehicle. He died at the scene. Miraculously, Charlize was unharmed physically, but she has lost her beloved “Papa” forever.
Ashton’s sudden passing has shattered the lives of his fiancée, Miranda Sharp, and their daughter, who were just beginning a joyful new chapter. The couple had recently become engaged after five beautiful years together, and were building a future full of love, purpose, and dreams.
Ashton was days away from starting his dream job teaching at a school for the Deaf, a role that perfectly matched his passion for accessibility, inclusion, and education.
Ashton was not only a deeply loving father and partner, but also a builder, of homes, of community, and of safe spaces for those around him. Watching him with Charlize was like watching someone live out the purpose they were born for. Now, his family is left with heartbreak, trauma, and the enormous emotional and financial challenge of navigating life without him.
This GoFundMe has been created to support Miranda and Charlize in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. Funds raised will help cover:
Trauma-informed grief counselling for Charlize and Miranda
Mental health and wellness support for long-term healing
Essential living expenses as Miranda adjusts to life as a solo parent
Memorial costs and ways to honor Ashton’s memory
Nothing can bring Ashton back, but together, we can lift some of the weight off this young family as they process the unimaginable. Your support will help give Charlize the care and stability she needs, and let Miranda focus on healing, not survival.
Please consider donating or sharing this page. Every act of kindness, big or small, helps keep Ashton’s light alive in the lives of the people he loved most.
