Tragedy at Grandma-Chee-ee & Grandpa-Teh-ehs House
A little over 40 years ago, James and Josie met in Los Angeles California, got married and quickly moved back to Isleta Pueblo to start their family. They successfully raised 4 loving children and are blessed to have 11 grandchildren they love dearly. Retired approximately 10 years ago, their focus on family grew more intense. Their 8 youngest grandchildren, ranging from ages 1-12 were always around running in the front door and out the back chasing each other in succession, all the while laughing and screaming as they announced their arrival. James and Josie enjoyed having them around and were proud to continue to build more childhood memories in the same house their children were raised.

In the early morning hours of January 23, 2024 they woke to rolling black smoke and flames. James, in his handicapped capacity, attempted to put the fire out while Josie gathered their two grandkids, who spent the night, and took them outside to safety. Josie then went back in to help her husband, James out of the house. With the help of God and their Guardian Angels, they all escaped without harm. They lost their entire home and all their belongings within a matter of a few short hours.

The loss encountered by James and Josie is overwhelming for the entire family. They’ve spent 40+ years living in, building, and caring for their home and it is just heart breaking to see them in this situation. We thank you for your time reading this and for your thoughts and prayers as we all try and help them rebuild and create new memories with their family. Any donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated by the entire family.

A Special Heartfelt Thank You to the First Officer on scene Officer Derek Eteeyn #214, #Isletapolicedepartment, and all the firefighters that did their best to save what they could. #IsletaFireDepartment, #PeraltaFireDepartment, #BernalilloFireandRescue, #BosqueFarmsFireDartment, #LosLunasFireDepartment.
