Authoritarianism is undermined through mass movements, combined with dissent from within the pillars of support regimes depend on. Successful social movements depend on dissent from within those pillars, which include numerous institutions and sectors of society.

The more visible such dissent is, the easier it is for people to understand the opportunities for dissent, and to engage in dissent themselves. This project, launched by Cross Cultural Solidarity, aims to increase the visibility of numerous types of dissent by charting the many types of dissent already taking place, and by offering further resources to support them.

This project also tracks the authoritarianism & bigotry of the second Trump administration, and the broader far-right ecosystem this administration is a part of. Together, these resources will be a major resource for activists and organizers, historians and educators and journalists… and for all people concerned with protecting our democracy.

The project has already poured hundreds of hours into tracking the first year of this authoritarian moment and the resistance to it, which you can explore in the links above.
