Hi, my name is Sawsan Motaz. Originally from Gaza, I now live in Oxford. The war has deeply impacted my family. Merely six months ago, our home in Khan Younis was a sanctuary filled with happiness and hope. However, during this war family lost their homes, cars and sources of income leaving them without shelter. They were forced to relocate from Khan Younis to Elmoasie in Rafah where they currently live in tents in an awful situation.

Earlier this year, my family faced the urgent need to evacuate their area, which had become a declared war zone. With little time to spare and amidst the peril of gunfire and bombardment, they hastily fled. My parents, siblings, and their children had no choice but to leave everything behind, escaping with only the clothes on their backs. Thus began another chapter in their lives, figuring out how to construct a makeshift shelter and endure the harshness of the cold weather illness, hunger and the lack of access to clean water.

Since then, I've been their main support, providing money for food, essentials, and medicine for my parents to survive. However, I'm struggling financially myself as I am a single mum and can barely make ends meet. Despite the support from friends, the prolonged conflict has stretched my resources thin. It pains me deeply to ask for help but I don't know what to do since I was running out of options and I can no longer support them alone.

At the same time, my mother faces significant health challenges, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart issues. Several years ago, her diabetes led to nerve and blood vessel damage in her feet. Recently, she developed a severe foot wound with a dangerous infection. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing war, access to doctors and essential medications is severely limited, making proper treatment unavailable. I am deeply concerned for her well-being.

My immediate two goals are to support my family while they're in Gaza and the second goal is to evacuate my family to a safe place away from the ongoing war to get treatment for my mum in Egypt.

I'm in a situation where having all those people is my responsibility and I can't stand to lose one of them after we already lost some members of our extended family, friends and neighbours due to this conflict.

I'm reaching out to raise funds for my family to survive this war. Prices have skyrocketed, and they need at least £100 a day for food and essential baby supplies, which I can no longer afford. I'm humbly pleading for your generous donation to help me support my family. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in their lives.

The funds will be used for travel through the Rafah border crossing to Egypt as you may know it costs one adult $5000 and a child $2500 to cross the border and essential needs such as temporary housing, food, medical care and necessities for my family until we can establish a more stable situation where we can begin the process of rebuilding their shattered lives again.
