Hello everyone, my name is Anthoney Galbraith and I do an Annual Food Drive for the Homeless here in Reno, Nevada on Thanksgiving Day. I started doing this eight years ago with my son Pax and have been doing it every year since. Every year, the growth of the homeless population seems to double, and with the movement of the homeless shelter/community in downtown Reno, as well as COVID, things have not been easy for our homeless community. I have always been asked, “How can I help or contribute” by many people. I honestly couldn’t answer that question due to just taking things into my own hands. Well, with the advice from my amazing Aunt Lindi to create a GoFundMe, here I am eight years later trying to bring the Reno/Sparks community together to help feed the most hungry on the most important day for a meal, Thanksgiving.
I know the past couple years have been very hard on all of us. We are now seeing the light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel and smiles are starting to brighten days again. Money does NOT have to be contributed to this food drive. We honestly look for anything such as care packages (toilet paper, toothbrush/toothpaste, hand sanitizer), blankets, or any clothing. Honestly, a comment that recognizes the efforts trying to end stress and poverty goes a lot farther than truly anyone could ever imagine.
I would like to thank everyone from the past, present, and future that has, or is thinking about helping out with this growing food drive and I would like to say how amazing you all are for your efforts and tremendous support, it truly means the world. Thank you from the bottom of mine, and my families hearts as the dream of one day, no one will ever be hungry again is achieved. It all starts with a dream and I truly hope you all are dreamers reaching for the stars. Thank you all, Stay Safe and Healthy, God Bless, and Happy Holidays. One Love Ya’ll.
