Tower2Tower - Sponsored Walk

Donation protected
Hi There! We are Luke and Charlie, and we’re about to take on a serious mission for the island we call home.

This is your dream team - even though they have been surgically enhanced by AI!

On the 20th and 21st of March, we will lace-up our walking boots and we will walk Tower2Tower. That's right - a 50-plus-mile journey from the Tower of London all the way back to the Mersea Island Water Tower. It’s going to be a long, gruelling walk, but we’re doing it to protect and enhance two pillars of our local community.

Through our work with the Rotary Club, we’ve seen first-hand how much can be achieved when Mersea comes together. This time, we are focusing our efforts on two causes that are incredibly close to our hearts:

1. Mersea Island School
Charlie is a School Governor and sees the dedication that goes into nurturing our local children on a regular basis. The school has a priority list of essential projects that require funding to ensure our kids have the best possible environment to learn and grow. The school develops and protects our children; now it’s time to protect and support the school that shapes their future. Fun fact: Luke went to Mersea Island School when he was boy!

You can find out more about Mersea Island School and some of the projects they are fundraising for here - Mersea Island School - Wishlist Hub

2. West Mersea Cricket Club
Luke is currently in his 20th year as Club Captain, and he’s seen the club grow to over 100 members. More than just a sports team, the club is a hub for mental health and wellbeing—getting people into the fresh air and socializing. We have vital projects lined up to ensure the future and smooth running of the club so it can continue to serve the island for generations to come. Fun fact: Charlie has a mean off-spin that he believes would have Luke walking with his bat all the way back to the Tower of London!

You can find all the details of Luke's illustrious cricketing record [including his staggering 134 not out] here - WMCC - Luke Conway

Why we’re doing this
Over 50 miles is no small feat, Luke has rowed to Ipswich and stood at the crease for 20 years, but 53 miles on tarmac might be his toughest shift yet! Charlie took on part of Hadrian's Wall for charity many years ago - but he might hit a brick wall with this one! We are making this sacrifice because we believe in the strength of our community. Every penny raised will be split between these two local institutions to fund projects that standard budgets simply don't cover.

How you can help:

Donate: Any amount, large or small, makes a massive difference. Online is best, but Luke and Charlie will have ways you can donate in cash if you reach out.

Share: Please post this page to your social media or send it to a neighbour.

Cheer: If you see two very tired men walking across the Strood and towards the Water Tower, give us a wave!

Let’s help keep Mersea Island School thriving and the Cricket Club's future secure. Thank you for your incredible support!
