Edinburgh marathon & Kilimanjaro
Donation protected
Hi my name is Nic and on the 25th May I am running 26.2 miles in The Edinburgh Marathon The reason for this is simple, for the past 3 years I have been doing voluntary work in Kenya at The GynoCare Women’s Hospital To help the ladies come to terms with life after stoma surgery.
When we first met some of these ladies they did not have access to stoma supplies and were using tin cans, breads bags and electrical tape to collect output from their stomas, it was heartbreaking!
Over recent years we have helped with the supplies of stoma bags and delivered education and training to help them reintegrate into life post surgery.
Now we aim to make a difference to these ladies for generations to come by building a new stoma wing on the hospital entirely dedicated to stoma care…. In order to fund this I will be climbing Kilimanjaro in October as a part of 20 other women. I am running the marathon as part of my fitness training for this epic adventure but to also help raise fund towards the cost of my trip to help raise awareness for the incredible activity.
