Tough Mudder at Belvoir Castle fundraiser

We are two reporters from sister papers, Marta Tavares from the Newark Advertiser and Katie Green from Grantham Journal.

We have decided to take on the 5k Tough Mudder challenge at Belvoir Castle on June 25.

We will be doing the 5k run that includes 13 obstacles. Are we ready? Only time will tell.

What makes this challenge even more special for us is we are fundraising money for charities in both the areas we cover with our papers, Newark and Grantham.

Who are we raising money for?

Marta has chosen to raise money for Newark Dementia Carers' Group, a volunteer-led group that provides care for people with dementia.

Dementia is an illness that affects many people and many families.

Marta has chosen this charity because it is a cause "close to my heart", she said.

On June 28, 2022, Marta's grandad died of dementia and with the challenge taking place so close to the year anniversary, Marta is doing this in his memory.

Katie has chosen the BHive Community Hub, under the South Lincolnshire Blind Society.

This is a charity that provides several services in Grantham for all ages. Katie has a close relationship with the paper and it is one she has been able to work with closely and showcase the amazing they do for Grantham.
