Torquay Towers Appeal Fund - Hervey Bay
Donation protected
We have an Appellant. The Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland - Fraser Coast has lodged an Appeal.
Please help us right a wrong before it’s too late! The Fraser Coast Regional Council has approved a huge 19 storey building fronting our beautiful Esplanade at Torquay. At 70 metres high the building is three and a half times the permitted height for the area and would be the highest building north of Brisbane. These ‘two towers’ at Torquay don’t comply with our Fraser Coast Planning scheme especially in relation to height, bulk, density and environmental impacts.
Could you please help us retain our beautiful low rise Esplanade foreshore and especially the beautiful fragile rare inshore coral reefs and the fish, turtles and other marine life that will be negatively impacted by artificial light.
The Fraser Coast branch of the Wildlife Preservation Society Queensland (WPSQ FC) has lodged an appeal via the Qld Planning and Environment Court to have the development either refused or made to be compliant with the relevant Planning Schemes. P&E Law have been engaged by the Appellant to represent them. This is exciting news. We now have a very highly respected and trusted Appellant who has engaged a legal firm that we believe is a leader in the field.
This Appeal will ultimately cost a great deal of money. We thank WPSQ Fraser Coast for their willingness to seek justice for our community. Please help WPSQ FC by donating to fund this Appeal and sharing the link to this page. You can also donate directly to WPSQ - FC. Details available via their web site.
A special thank you to the donors who have already contributed. Without your financial support the Appeal would not be happening.
