In April/May of 2022, I flew to Nepal with a colleague and undertook one of the toughest challenges I've ever attempted - trekking to Everest Base Camp. Over the course of 2 weeks we ascended to 5364M overcoming the physical and mental difficulties of being at high altitude. While the physical struggle was real, the mental struggle was the most difficult. With the support of an incredible team and guides, I was able to overcome the mental struggle of pushing past what I perceived as my limits which gave me an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment.

Many first responders also struggle with physical, and in particular, mental health challenges caused by their dedicated service to the public. Without the support of organizations like Toronto Beyond the Blue, many would not know to whom they can turn for help.

In April 2023 I am joining Seven Summit Treks/14Mount8000 in Nepal where I will once again travel along the Everest Base Camp route on the way to attempt to summit the 6100M peak of Mount Lobuche East Peak followed by the 6812M peak of Ama Dablam, which is considered one of the more technical mountains to climb in the Himalayas. 

Lobuche East is in fact the very first mountain that Nimsdai (from the film 14 Peaks) summitted before the World Records.

I am dedicating my summit attempt to raising awareness of the importance of first responder mental health. In particular, my focus will be on the mental health of Toronto Police officers and civilian employees. As such, this GoFundMe has been set up with a goal of raising monies for Toronto Beyond the Blue to assist with their ongoing efforts at supporting the families of Toronto Police Service members.
