Tornado Took Her Home—Let’s Help Rebuild Her LEGO Collection

My name is Desmond, and I’ve been part of my wife’s family for over a decade. Recently, a devastating tornado tore through the home of my wife’s aunt and her first cousins, leaving behind heartbreaking destruction. While we’re incredibly thankful that everyone made it out safely, the loss of their home and personal belongings has been deeply painful for the whole family.

One of those affected is Maleah, my wife’s first cousin. Maleah is someone who’s always had a creative and joyful spirit—especially when it came to her passion for LEGO, with a special love for Disney-themed sets. Over the years, she’s shared that passion with me often. It was more than a hobby for her—it was something that brought her happiness, a sense of pride, and a connection to the magic of storytelling.

This past weekend, Maleah was telling me about the tornado and everything she and her family went through. As she recounted the experience, I could see how much it had shaken her. She was obviously torn up about the entire situation, but what really stayed with me was when she described what had become of her room. The wall where she had carefully displayed her entire LEGO collection was completely gone. As she talked through the different sets she had collected over the years, I could feel her sadness.
