For many people, this gym (Top Notch Physiques) is more than just a place to work out. It’s a place where friendships are built, goals are reached, and people show up for each other every day. It has become a true part of our community.

But behind the scenes, the owner has faced challenges that most people can’t imagine.

Nearly a couple years ago, (03/22/2024) he experienced the devastating loss of his son — something no parent should ever have to endure. Despite that unimaginable heartbreak, he continued showing up, keeping the gym running and providing a place where others could find strength, support, and community.

On top of that, he has also been dealing with his own health issues. He was hospitalized twice since 2021 with sepsis, had cellulitis in his leg 3 times, lost his primary job in 2023 (due to medical complications and being at high risk of falling and an insurance liability, became disabled and can barely get around due to significant pain and has a hard time functioning due to meds and his debilitating back issues. Depending on the severity of pain and meds, he uses either a cane, a walker or motorized wheelchair on the worst of days. With his recent visits to physical therapy in February they have refused to further see or treat him and are referring him to Mayo in Minnesota for further observation and treatment.

Through grief and personal health struggles, he has still done everything he can to keep the doors open and this community together.

Now the gym itself is facing a major obstacle.

The building’s roof is in urgent need of replacement. Leaks and damage are beginning to threaten the facility, and the cost of replacing the roof is something no small business owner can easily take on — especially after everything he has already been through. Insurance won't cover the damage because it was an old roof that was aged and due to be replaced anyway. It would be different if a natural disaster like a tornado, had come through and tore it off but unfortunately under the circumstances it's all on him.

This gym has supported so many people through their own struggles. Now it’s our turn to support him.

We are hoping to raise $50,000. to replace the roof and ensure this gym can continue being the place that so many people rely on — for health, strength, and community.
