Tony was diagnosed with COVID-19 on September 25th and after spending a week at home trying to fight the virus he and Melissa decided it was time to seek additional medical assistance. Arriving at Kettering Medical Center he was diagnosed with acute hypoxic respiratory failure, acute kidney failure along with viral and bacterial pneumonia. All of this culminated with significant impact to his lung function and capability to breathe without assistance. During his stay at Kettering Medical Center (26 days) he also suffered a pulmonary embolism which has also slowed his recovery from the virus. On the 28th of October, he was moved to Sycamore Hospital’s PAM long term acute care facility to receive on going therapy to help his lungs heal and work toward the ultimate goal of getting him home. While he is making good progress over the last several days, at the moment, we don’t know how long he will be unable to return to work and as you can imagine a lengthy hospital stay can be quite a financial burden. Our goal with this gofundme is to help alleviate that aspect of the overall situation, given that Tony is the primary source of income. Due to the extended timeframe of recovery, they will likely need to rely on Family Medical Leave Act (60% pay) to cover their financial needs. Any amount is appreciated or if financial assistance is not the right path for you, then please just drop him a note and keep Tony and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Tony has blessed so many of us with his kindness, love and willingness to help; now is our opportunity to help him get through this challenging time.
