Tom Volkert passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2024 leaving those who know and love him in shock and wanting to help.

Tom's life centered around his family - his wife Angela and their two boys Vincent (16) and Dexter (11). One of Tom's favorite things was watching his sons do what they love. For Vincent, it's games and preparing for his senior year and college adventures. Dexter loves all sports just like his dad. No matter what it was, Tom was always there to encourage their passions.

Tom also had a very special relationship with Middlebury, Vermont, where he grew up and attended college, and with the MIT Whitehead community where he was director of the Genome Technology Core for over twenty years.
