This year for my 6th Annual Charity Challenge Hike I will be raising money for two worthy causes right here in my hometown of Worcester. Rostlyn Parslow is a 14-year-old neighbor who was recently diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a rare genetic disorder that affects spinal and peripheral nerves. Matthew Sivacek is another neighbor who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that will require treatment at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To raise money to help these two families to deal with the anticipated financial challenges ahead, I will be attempting to thru-hike the Northville-Placid Trail (NPT). In order to insert the Challenge part into the hike, I will be attempting a yo-yo hike of both ways for 276 miles. I am asking for pledges for each mile hiked for the first 250 miles. The last 26 miles are on me (easier math). All monies raised will be split evenly between the Parslow and Sivacek families.
