Newlyweds Tommy and Melissa have been blessed with identical twin boys, due in September. It has been diagnosed as a high-risk pregnancy due to the rare type of twins they have, called "mono-di twins".
Monochorionic/diamniotic twins are two identical babies who develop with the same placenta, but in separate amniotic sacs. Possible risks include: Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, complications related to a shared blood supply inside the placenta, higher percentage of birth defects/anomalies, and a potential circulatory problem monochorionic twins can face is twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP) sequence.
One twin currently has an abnormal umbilical cord placement on the placenta which influences his intake of nutrients, and may be catastrophic if any cervix issues arise later in pregnancy. Even with doctor appointments every week, specialists indicate a premature/early delivery, and possible NICU stay afterwards for the twins.
Melissa was instructed by her doctor to be extra careful and suggested bed rest; therefore her work cut her hours drastically, especially since she works under high-stress environment working with children with special needs. She is only allowed to work until the end of the school year (June), no work after that... Tommy is doing his absolute best to provide through private trainings and fighting when given the chance, but it is difficult to get by. He is eager to start Lineman School so that he can provide a better life for his wife and twin newborns, but the program costs as well.
We appreciate any support from their community of loved ones!
